Government Engineering College, Kozhikode is rated among the top engineering colleges in the state. At present the college offers B. Tech. Degree in four branches of engineering namely, Civil, Mechanical, Applied Electronics and Instrumentation and Chemical Engineering. In addition to these U.G. courses, the college offers M. Tech Degree in Computer Aided Process Design. The college has excellent infrastructure and academic facilities that include central computing facilities, well stocked central technical library, online access to international journals under INDEST-AICTE Consortium, and a campus network. Administration and academic activities of the college are managed using campus administration software. The college has scholarly faculties with Ph.D. and M. Tech. from various leading learning institutes in India. Apart from this the campus provides ample opportunities for developing extracurricular skills which include NSS, Students Chapters of IEEE, and Student Chapters of IICHE, social clubs and sports & games. The Alumni of this institution have excelled in various spheres and are positioned very well globally in a number of leading Government, Public Sector & Private Organizations.
The Government Engineering College, Kozhikode is situated at West Hill is well connected to the Kozhikode city by open and wide roads, the Institute campus is about 5 Km. away from the Kozhikode Main Railway Station, 4 Km. from the Private Bus Terminal and 30 Km. from Calicut International Airport.
The institute was started by the Government of Kerala in 1999 with a view to catering to the needs of man-power in technology for the country. The institute is affiliated to University of Calicut, which was set up with a motto to nurture the talents in northern Kerala. The College imparts high quality technical education and also focuses on the overall development of the students. State-of-the-art facilities are available in the College and the facilities are updated regularly using funds received from State Government and Central Government.
